MHTV Invites Marblehead Residents to Become MCAM Members and Produce Their Own Television Programs

Marblehead, MA (September 14, 2010) – Have you ever wanted to produce your own television show?  Are you a member of a nonprofit organization and want to get your group’s message out to the town?  Here’s your chance.

Marblehead Community Access and Media’s (MCAM’s) Public Access television station, MHTV, will be offering a five-week course in Video Production to Marblehead residents beginning October 5, 2010.  Classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 at the MHTV studio in Marblehead Veterans Middle School on Pleasant Street.

“The MHTV Video Production class is designed to equip MCAM members with basic knowledge so that they can start helping other producers with shows or produce, write and tape their own television productions,” commented Jon Caswell, MCAM’s Executive Director.

MCAM membership is available for a small fee to any resident, town employee, anyone working in Marblehead, members of nonprofit organizations and municipal agencies and businesses that serve the town.  Individual memberships are $25; Student (ages 12 – 18) memberships are $10; Family/Household memberships are $40; Senior (ages 65 and up) memberships are free; Organization (nonprofit organization and town department) memberships are $50; and Business memberships are $75.

Over the five classes, Caswell will teach students studio production techniques using the MHTV studio equipment and location production techniques using MHTV’s portable equipment.   He will also provide tips for producing a show.  Once students finish the class, they will be certified to produce shows for the channel or help other Community Producers.

For more information on becoming an MCAM member, or to register for the Video Production course, Marblehead residents and organizations should contact MHTV at 781-631-8213.
